Summary : Under the direction of the Water Supervisor, this position responds to requests from utility companies, contractors, plumbers, state agencies and customers for utility locations pertaining to renewal, replacement and / or adjustments of utilities. Assists the Utility Coordinator to maintain the material safety data sheet and meet other safety requirements. This position will be required to work shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather. This position is considered weather essential personnel.

Essential Responsibilities

• Locates city owned utilities for other utility companies, contractors, plumbers, state agencies and customers.
• Advises and suggests to excavators proper methods and location of excavations to prevent present and / or future damage to city utilities.
• Effectively interfaces with customers, city personnel, engineers and / or contractors.
• Obtains timely information concerning the need for utility adjustments and / or relocations and forwarding this information to Water Supervisor and / or proper departments.
• Provides information to the Water Supervisor of needed replacement, repair or installation of inadequate or deteriorated water and wastewater appurtenances found in the field.
• Serves as alternate Utility Coordinator when needed.
• Responds to after-hours calls on an as-needed basis
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements : Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent (GED). Requires a valid Texas Class 'C' driver's license. One (1) year of experience in the utility field is preferred. Valid Class A Texas Commercial Driver's License preferred
