Description :

The position requires a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery.

The nurse will provide care for obstetric, postpartum, antepartum, and post-surgical GYN patients.

There are 15 Labor and Delivery beds and 15 postpartum beds on the unit.

Common diagnoses include pregnancy with hypertension or diabetes.

Ratios are 1 : 3 for most patients and 1 : 1 for laboring patients.

RNs are required to titrate drips such as Pitocin, Magnesium, and Procardia.

The unit has a charge nurse on each shift, who does take an assignment.

RNs are not required to handle respiratory equipment beyond troubleshooting.

There are no monitor techs on the unit; RNs are expected to read their own telemetry strips.

Shifts are 12 hours in duration, with scheduling managed by the unit manager.

Weekend shifts are required every other week, and holiday shifts may be required based on demand.

There is no call or standby requirement for this position.

RTO must be provided upfront, and additional requests will not be approved.

The unit has high patient experience scores and is recognized for quality patient care.

Breastfeeding support is a key aspect of the unit's services.

The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment.

The charting system in use is EPIC.
