Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Conduct field investigations and perform failure / accident analysis on incidents including train derailments, pedestrian strikes and vehicular impacts at railroad / highway grade crossings
- Evaluate rolling stock component related failures
- Investigate design, safety and failure of machinery and mechanical systems
- Perform calculations, engineering analysis, computer analyses and simulations and technical reporting
- Provide technical findings and conclusions in laymen's terms, both verbally and in writing
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
- Regular and predictable physical presence in the office
- Long term goal to become testifying expert
- Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance
- Regular and predictable presence at work
Position Requirements
B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering requiredP.E. license preferredSeven years of post-academic engineering work experience preferredStrong written and oral communication skillsComputer skills with spreadsheets, word processing and presentation software is a mustComputer aided drawing skills is a plusExceptional interpersonal and communication skillsPublic speaking experience is a plusPhysical Requirements
