Job descriptionB.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering required P.E. license preferred Seven years of post-academic engineering work experience preferred Strong written and oral communication skills Computer skills with spreadsheets, word processing and presentation software is a must Computer aided drawing skills is a plus Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills Public speaking experience is a plus Ability to travel 35% of the time Ability to maneuver in and around an accident site Ability to lift 50 lbs Ability to carry equipment to and from job sites Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing Ability to drive in all conditions Ability to fly on airplanes Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues Ability to visually inspect job sites and relevant artifacts Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site Ability to learn a new industry and obtain required certifications Extensive training in forensic engineering and technology Medical, dental, and vision coverage with company match HSA plan 401(k) and Roth IRA retirement plans with company match Generous vacation and sick leave policy focused on work-life balance Company-paid STD, LTD and Life Insurance Tuition Reimbursement program Industry Leading Bonus program

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Conduct field investigations and perform failure / accident analysis on incidents including train derailments, pedestrian strikes and vehicular impacts at railroad / highway grade crossings
- Evaluate rolling stock component related failures
- Investigate design, safety and failure of machinery and mechanical systems
- Perform calculations, engineering analysis, computer analyses and simulations and technical reporting
- Provide technical findings and conclusions in laymen's terms, both verbally and in writing
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
- Regular and predictable physical presence in the office
- Long term goal to become testifying expert
- Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance
- Regular and predictable presence at work
