What We Can Achieve Together :

The NCS Advisor Peatlands assists the Global Lead for Peatlands with the development implementation and management of their conservation business plans and strategies. They develop key topical Peatlands NCS expertise to drive strategy development and implementation. The NCS Advisor Peatlands supports ad hoc business assessments of large scale strategy expansion. They work to develop and collaborate with a network of TNC field colleagues to support the adoption of key conservation strategies throughout our organization.

The location for this position is flexible within countries where The Nature Conservancy has an established office . Salary is based on physical working location. No relocation assistance.

This is a two-year funded position with the possibility for extension based on deliverables and funding.

The NCS Advisor Peatlands provides strategic technical and operational support to the Global Lead for Peatlands in advancing TNCs global peatland strategy. This role contributes to the development and implementation of the NCS Peatlands Implementation Plan ensuring alignment with TNCs broader NCS strategy and global conservation priorities.

Operating across geographies and disciplines the Advisor supports program coordination stakeholder engagement and knowledge management. They assist in synthesizing scientific insights tracking program performance and facilitating collaboration across TNC teams and external partners. The Advisor plays a key role in preparing materials for strategic decision-making supporting grant development and ensuring the smooth implementation of peatland initiatives globally.

This position requires a strong understanding of peatland ecosystems climate mitigation and conservation planning along with excellent organizational communication and analytical skills. The Advisor works closely with the Global Lead and other team members to ensure the program delivers measurable impact and maintains its position as a global leader in peatland conservation.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE

• Support the Global Lead in implementing the NCS Peatlands Implementation Plan including coordination of activities tracking progress and synthesizing outcomes across global teams.
• Assist in the development of strategic materials including briefing documents presentations and reports that inform internal leadership and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate cross-boundary collaboration among TNC regional country and global teams ensuring alignment and knowledge exchange across the peatlands portfolio.
• Contribute to the preparation of grant proposals and funding requests and supporting donor engagement.
• Support stakeholder engagement efforts including liaising with government agencies conservation organizations foundations and academic institutions.
• Monitor and report on program performance helping to maintain optimal standards within budget and timelines.
• Assist in the development and dissemination of scientific tools frameworks and best practices in collaboration with technical experts and field teams (working in closely with the NCS Learning Manager).
• Provide logistical and operational support for field campaigns workshops and international travel including coordination of remote teams and event planning.
• Support negotiation and partnership development efforts helping to prepare materials and facilitate discussions with landowners agencies and community stakeholders.
• Contribute to internal communications and knowledge management ensuring key insights resources and updates are shared across the organization.
• Provides economic analysis of conservation opportunities
• Designs implements and directs complex and diverse projects encompassing multiple programs.
• Incorporates cross disciplinary knowledge to support program objectives.
• Serves as a team leader for assigned projects.
• Requires willingness and ability to travel up to 25% both domestically and internationally.

Salary Information :

This position may be based in any country where TNC has an established entity taking into consideration legal restrictions such as non-national ratios and immigration processing times. For U.S. based applicants only the starting pay range for this position is generally within the range of $51300 $88145 for annual base salary and is based on location qualifications specific skills and experience. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. For all other applicants pay ranges will be in local currency the pay range will be based on the local labor market and not tied to the above pay range. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment and used to determine your actual pay range. Additionally for all applicants actual pay will fall within a range based on a variety of factors including for example the candidates qualifications specific skills and experience.
