Daughters of Charity Ministries in Emmitsburg, Maryland is seeking full-time Groundskeeper.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
Responsible for the routine grounds maintenance / installation and upkeep for St. Joseph's House, Mother Seton House, and the Seton Outreach Center.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Performs duties associated with both interior and exterior landscapes. Includes, but is not limited to : installation, mowing, fertilizing, edging, weeding, trimming, irrigation, etc. Assists with pesticide applications.
- As directed by Manager, uses hand-held, walk-behind, and low horsepower equipment. Assists with the operation of medium horsepower equipment.
- Performs snow and ice removal duties as directed by Manager. Uses appropriate tools, equipment, and supplies necessary to keep roads and walkways free of snow and ice build-up. During severe weather situations, required to be on-call, as scheduled by Manager.
- Maintains a clean work area. Responsible for cleaning up work site at the end of day / project. Includes sweeping / vacuuming, taking trash and debris to proper disposal site. Inspects, cleans, lubricates, maintains, and returns all tools and equipment to proper storage, as directed by Manager.
- Maintains a safe work area and works in a safe manner. Follows OSHA guidelines for the discovery. Under the direction of the Manager operates equipment and vehicles safely and responsibly. Also, reports incidents / accidents to Manager immediately.
- Performs other duties as requested (i.e. holiday flowers / greens, cleaning wheelchairs, assist other departments as necessary, etc.)
- Must have a valid driver's license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be physically able to lift 50-75 pounds. Ability to walk, stand, climb, bend, reach, stoop, and / or kneel for long periods of time. May be exposed to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
