Req : 0000218780 Category : Nursing Status : Full-Time Shift : Day Facility : RWJ New Brunswick Department : Admission Transition Unit Pay Range : $47.85 - $71.72 per hour Location : One Robert Wood Johnson Place, New Brunswick, NJ 08901 Job Overview RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Registered Nurse for our Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) at the New Brunswick campus. The Intermediate Care Unit is a 31-bed unit designed to care for patients whose clinical needs exceeds what a general medical surgical unit can safely provide but do not require the full resources of an intensive care unit. Our intermediate care unit cares for adult patients with acute and chronic medical conditions requiring closer monitoring including but not limited to : continuous pulse oximetry monitoring, telemetry monitoring, frequent neurological assessments and frequent vital signs. The patient population may include patients with multiple medical diagnoses and / or multi-system medical conditions, pre- and post-surgical / procedural needs, or those transitioning from an ICU level of care. Qualifications Required : ASN or Nursing Diploma At least 1 year of acute care RN experience required Strong communication and organizational skills Proficient computer skills Preferred BSN or must be completed within 5 years upon hire At least 2-3 years of acute care RN experience National Board Certification in Specialty Certifications And Licenses Required BLS and ACLS certification Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License Scheduling Requirements Day Shift, 36 hours per week, 7a-7 : 30p Monday – Friday, some weekend and holiday rotation PT Essential Functions The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics. The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available. The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors / walls / ceiling tiles / unsecured areas) and medical errors. The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served. The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers. The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement. The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient’s needs.
