Communications Strategist & Event Coordination - NASA MORI Associates is looking for a talented, reliable, deadline-driven Communications Strategist to join our team supporting NASA at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.
This position requires a communication strategist / public affairs representative for NASA’s STEM initiatives.
This position is hybrid and selected person must be able to work onsite at Johnson Space Center as needed.
Responsibilities for this job include the following :
- Communication Strategy / Outreach and Engagement Tasks Assuming up to 8 events or special projects per year.
- Attend planning meetings, respond to questions and update the project management of scheduled task items. Set up and run internal meetings to coordinate needs.
- Be the Single POC for SMEs to provide guidance and feedback regarding event, mission or outreach support Establish working groups for larger projects (as needed) Write articles, draft talking points, provide feedback to SMEs Follow up with event or mission POC(s) on items related to task work, such as collecting content for messaging (email campaigns, website, agenda, pre-event information, graphics, flyers, tours, venue logistics, post event follow-up Relay status of all engagement or public affairs efforts to NASA POCs Identify opportunities for department stakeholders or others to present briefings, inform about NASA mission Develop speaker presentations, talking points and coordination Be the single point of contact between NASA and the workforce development POCs or other project leads for exhibit materials, Power Points, talking points, and other tasks as required to enable a professional presence at each event or conference.
- Manage the shipments of booth / space material, equipment, handouts for each event NASA would like a presence at SharePoint and Imagery Update / maintain SharePoint sites in coordination with NASA stakeholders Maintain a SharePoint folder that contains all relevant imagery, plans, reports and graphics.
Requirements :
BA / BS Journalism, Multimedia, Communications, or related field.At least 5 years of experience in strategic communications (including event coordination) preferred but not required.Must be able to write to a range of audiences and creatively explain complex technical ideas in an approachable, compelling way.Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work in a dynamic environment.Experience with editing and familiarity with AP style are desired.Flexibility to travel depending on mission and client requirements.Due to the nature of the confidential government work involved, US citizenship is required.Salary Range :
