Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Peri-Op / PACU position requiring a NM or compact RN license and at least two years of recent experience in a small PACU.

Responsibilities

  • Position is in a peri-operative / PACU setting within a hospital
  • Responsibilities include both Pre-Op and PACU patient care
  • Day shifts, Monday through Friday, 7 : 00 AM to 3 : 30 PM, with weekend and on-call coverage as needed
  • May be required to float between departments or local locations within a 20-mile radius
  • Epic EMR used; prior experience preferred but not required as training is provided
  • Responsible for direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and documentation
  • Coordinate patient care with the healthcare team and family
  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and protocols
  • Supervise LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel as required
  • Complete age-specific and procedure protocol education and competency testing per unit standards
  • Basic cardiac arrhythmia testing required if floated to ED, ICU, or PCU, to be completed during orientation
  • Scrub or dress code requirements will follow hospital policy
  • Requirements

  • Active NM or compact state RN license
  • BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
  • Associate degree in Nursing (ADN or ASN) required
  • Minimum of two years current experience in a small PACU and Pre-Op
  • At least one previous 13-week travel assignment
  • Teamwork and flexibility with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility—no locals allowed
  • Must wait one year after previous permanent employment at the facility before being considered as a traveler
