Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager
Location: Charlotte, NC Reports To: President
Overview
Lead and manage food safety and quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, customer requirements, and internal quality goals. Drive continuous improvement, risk reduction, and a strong culture of food safety across operations.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership: Direct QA and food safety teams; foster accountability and compliance culture.
Food Safety Management: Oversee HACCP, GMPs, SOPs, audits, and corrective/preventive actions.
Quality Assurance: Establish product standards, monitor metrics, conduct audits, and ensure consistency.
Regulatory Compliance: Maintain documentation, traceability, recall readiness, and respond to findings.
Training: Develop and oversee staff training on food safety and QA protocols.
Continuous Improvement: Implement process improvements, support innovation, and enhance efficiency.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s in Food Science, Poultry/Animal Science, Microbiology, or related field.
10+ years in food manufacturing QA, 5+ in leadership.
Expertise in USDA, FSIS, HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, and regulatory compliance.
Certified HACCP Practitioner; proven audit and QA program management experience.
Strong leadership, communication, cross-functional collaboration, and data analysis skills.
Preferred:
Experience in poultry processing operations.
SQF Practitioner or PCQI certification.
Background in GFSI systems, Lean/Six Sigma, automation, and SPC.
