Description for External Candidates
The Electro-Mechanical Assembler III will be responsible for accurately assembling, testing, and packaging prefabricated telecom assemblies into racks or cabinets for processing into the Finished Goods Department. The role will assemble and build-out telecommunications devices or assemblies that are mechanical or electro-mechanical in configuration; typically containing a rack or cabinet, shelves, back planes, heat baffle assemblies, surge protection panels, AC panels, alarms, cabling and other associated telecommunications devices and sub-assemblies used for production of ADTRAN's products.

Duties and Responsibilities
\n
- Determine and / or follow methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component installation, hand soldering, cable harnessing, and fitting on assembly units.
\n
Accurately assemble and perform proper mounting of prefabricated telecom assemblies into large racks or bays by utilizing assembly drawings, diagrams, pictures, schematics and Bill of Materials.\n
Work on multiple and varied assignments and be able to recognize and indicate where any deviation from accepted practices is required.\n
Adhere to general instructions for routine work and detailed instructions for new assignments.\n
Check and inspect products to ensure Q50, IPC-A-610, and IPC-A-620 quality standards are met.\n
Make process, part, and / or assembly change recommendations to technical instructions based on assembly needs.\n
Package / crate completed assemblies according to customer requirements in preparation for shipment.\n
Perform manual Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) on ADTRAN products in order to ensure quality performance and functional operation.\n
Determine and / or follow methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring and cable harnessing on assembly units.\n
Other projects and assignments may result and be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the Company.\n \n
Basic Qualifications
\n
High School Diploma or GED equivalent requiredEquivalent experience will be considered in lieu of education requirements
\n
\n
2 - 5 years prior experience required.\n
Basic Microsoft Office skills required.\n
Ability to read, analyze and interpret readings, blueprints, schematics and drawings.\n
Proficient in wire wrapping / stripping; as well as cable terminations with crimping specifications.\n
Demonstrate ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance\n
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.\n
Ability to operate a manual pallet jack on daily basis required.\n
No travel is expected in this position.\n \n
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
\n
Prior manufacturing environment experience is preferred.\n
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software experience preferred\n
Familiar with AC circuitry or large cabinet protection panels preferred.\n \n
Essential Physical and Mental Qualifications (Required)
\n
The employee is regularly required to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and whole-body movement.\n
The employee must walk and stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 50 pounds without assistance on a repetitive basis and lift materials greater than 50 pounds with assistance.\n
Manual dexterity with hands and fingers is necessary to make quick, precisely coordinated movements to grasp, manipulate, and assemble very small objects on a consistent basis.\n
Must be able to frequently extend or reach with hands and arms while performing routine job functions including scanners, hand tools, power tools, and production equipment.\n
The job will require occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, pushing and pulling.\n
The job will require the employee to possess the ability to see and interpret instructions, warnings, safety hazards, colors, and procedures, the ability to hear alarms and pages, to listen for safety hazards, to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences in English, and the ability to communicate with peers through spoken words in English to complete job requirements.\n
Employees may be exposed to solder fumes. Eye protection, respirators, and safety clothing will be required and supplied by the company in instances where there is exposure to safety hazards.\n
