Job description

We are seeking a senior level individual that has extensive experience in reserving, handling / directing, and settling complex liability / transportation claims. Travel is required to negotiate, mediate and attend trials. Also, the ideal candidate will add to and bolster DMC’s unique culture – a workplace built on enthusiasm, entrepreneurship, integrity, communication, proactive problem solving, and a genuine passion for helping our customers and agents.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct outside legal counsel on high dollar litigated claims
Claim preparation for settlement or trial
Conduct timely and thorough investigations per company procedures
Review files on a timely diary for reserving adequacy and resolution plans
Complete timely and accurate reports
Attend mediations and trials as merited

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree (law degree a plus).

At least 10 years of experience handling complex high dollar cases, including transportation / trucking.

Extensive experience in reserving claims and handling them from beginning to end.

Experience in working / communicating with other companies in the insurance towers.

Extensive experience in negotiation these cases

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Travel for vetting counsel, planning, mediations and trials

Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs and an aptitude to learn new programs

Abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, and compliance with DMC risk management controls
