About the Role
The Chief Operating Officer is a key executive role within the organization that ensures strategy, culture, and day to day operations work together to advance the organization's mission and community impact.
The COO reports to the President and works closely with the Executive Team. This leader drives operational excellence, oversees core internal functions, and helps maintain a healthy, values based workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
Lead internal operations and ensure alignment with the organization's strategic planTranslate long term strategy into annual work plans, measurable goals, and performance systemsOversee enterprise risk management, compliance, legal coordination, HR, IT, and cross departmental operationsSupport leaders in finance, communications, technology, and other assigned areasFoster a workplace culture grounded in trust, equity, accountability, and professional growthLead human resources including recruitment, performance management, and developmentPartner with the President on operational priorities, organizational health, and risk mattersServe as staff lead for governance practices, Board policy implementation, and internal communicationAct on behalf of the President when neededQualifications
Minimum 10 years of senior management experience, ideally in philanthropy or nonprofit leadershipStrong background in operations, HR and talent development, compliance, and risk managementDemonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams and build effective organizational systemsExcellent communication skills and the ability to build trust at all levelsBachelor's degree required, master's degree or JD strongly preferredValid Florida driver's license, local travel requiredStrong judgment, organizational skills, adaptability, and commitment to continuous learningCompensation & Benefits
