Job SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will work closely with licensed occupational therapists / hand therapists to provide high-quality patient care in the outpatient hand therapy / orthopedic setting. This position includes splint fabrication functional capacity, work hardening programs. - Responsibilities
- Assist licensed occupational therapists in developing and implementing personalized care plans that address patients specific needs and goals.
- Support patients with home exercises, custom splint fabrication / instruction, specialty hand therapy program.
- Conduct patient assessments under supervision, observing progress and documenting responses to therapy interventions accurately.
- Facilitate therapeutic activities designed to improve motor skills, coordination, strength, and cognitive functions across various age groups.
- Educate patients and their families on exercises, adaptive techniques, and safety measures to support ongoing recovery at home or in the community.
- Maintain detailed documentation of patient care activities, progress notes, and treatment outcomes in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care that aligns with medical imaging results, physiology principles, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology.
- Assist in the preparation of care plans by providing insights on patient progress and response to therapy interventions.
- Uphold safety standards and infection control protocols during all patient interactions to ensure a safe environment for everyone involved.
- Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program.
- Prior experience working in outpatient clinics, hand therapy / orthopedic setting.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and occupational health principles.
- Familiarity with care plan development and implementation based on patient assessments.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages and backgrounds while demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
- Knowledge of medical imaging results and their implications for therapy planning is advantageous.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver cohesive patient care.
- Flexibility to adapt to various patient population from teens, young adults to geriatrics.
