Job description

Primary Function / General Purpose of Position

The Addictions Counselor provides direct patient care under the guidance of a designated healthcare professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, and within policies, procedures, and guidelines of Bon Secours Mercy Health.

Essential Job Functions

Co-facilitates psychoeducational and psychotherapy groups, participates in family meetings and treatment team meetings.

Responsible forsubstance use disorder substance use disorder (SUD)group facilitation

Community resource knowledge and collaboration (peer recovery support, community support groups)

Completes Individual touch base with patients and Information gathering

Completes SUD screenings, SUD discharge planning, post-discharge calls, and Columbia-Suicide Rating Scale(C-SSRS)

Facilitates and organizes treatment planning and diagnostic assessments

Collects urine drug screenings

Successfully participates to complete BSMH and departmental specific training as required

Licensing / Certification

Required to have one of the following :

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) (required if employed in Virginia)

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with training Supervision (LPCC-S) (preferred)

Education

Masters, Counseling, Expressive Art or related field (required)

Work Experience

2 years in healthcare, social or human services setting. (required)

Patient Population

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.

Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.?

Working Conditions

Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.

Long-distance or air travel as needed- not to exceed 10% travel.

General office environment.

May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights.
