Job Summary
Migrant Education Program (MEP) dedicated to ensuring that the next generation of Kern County students has the opportunity to go to college. Our ultimate goal is to increase the number of Kern County youth that attain a higher education at the community college or university of their choice.Migrant Education Program (MEP) districts throughout the state to provide overnight college readiness programs. Students are motivated and guided through a series of workshops and leadership activities in which they learn how to become competitive college applicants, and leaders in their communities.For several years, MEP has provided college readiness services to students through our pre-college camps : The Scicon Camp (fall and spring), the Pre-College and Yo Puedo (I Can) Camps (summer), and the STEM Pre-College Camp (summer).

RequiredApplicants must be attending a post-secondary, accredited college or university and be in good academic standing. (Unofficial transcript must be attached to application packet) Applicants must have good computer skills. Applicants must have good customer service skills; good public speaking skills, and must be comfortable with speaking to small-to-large groups. Applicants must be able to communicate well orally and in writing. Preferred Possess one-year experience working with high school students navigating through a structured program; experience working with students of under-represented population. Applicants should have experience in working with diverse groups and populations. Work cooperatively and effectively with fellow peers, staff, and administrators while maintaining a professional relationship with any and all students, faculty, staff, and administrators. Applicants should be self-motivated, energetic, enthusiastic, responsible, detail-oriented, dependable and able to multitask as well as. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT : Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act. “The Kern County Superintendent of Schools Office prohibits discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying based on actual or perceived ancestry, age, color, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, marital or parental status or association with a person or a group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics”.
