We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to oversee corporate tax functions at our Richmond, Virginia location. This role is essential in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and international tax regulations while driving strategic initiatives to optimize tax processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of tax laws, and the ability to manage and mentor a team effectively.
Responsibilities :
- Manage the domestic income tax function, including compliance and reporting for federal and state regulations.
- Review and approve federal and state income tax returns prepared by staff, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Oversee non-income tax filings and supporting calculations, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws.
- Lead tax audits and inquiries at federal and state levels, providing thorough documentation and responses.
- Prepare and review monthly and annual tax provisions, including supporting workpapers and analysis of current and deferred taxes.
- Conduct research on federal and state tax laws, offering strategic planning and recommendations.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address tax-related concerns and initiatives.
- Mentor and guide team members, fostering growth and ensuring high performance.
- Take initiative to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and meet deadlines ahead of schedule.
- Stay updated on changes in tax regulations and pursue continuous learning opportunities to enhance expertise.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
- At least 6 years of experience in public or corporate tax, with a focus on compliance and reporting.
- Proven leadership and personnel management skills, including team mentoring.
- Strong analytical abilities, time management, and decision-making skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of tax laws, tax accounting practices, and research methodologies.
- Proficiency in tax compliance software and Microsoft Office applications; experience with Corptax is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex tax concepts effectively.
- Preference for candidates with a master’s degree in taxation or equivalent experience.
