Position Summary :
The Life Skills Professional is responsible for client support through direct interaction throughout the shift; collaboratively and actively assisting and supporting the participants of the program in the development of Life / Recovery Support / Coping / Daily living skills. You will facilitate and document psychotherapy groups, implementing the activities on the monthly calendar; promote and enhance the informed culture of the program, and the establishment and attainment of goals identified in the individual Recovery Support Plan (RSP).

Program Summary :
The Pennsylvania Institute for Community Living (PICL) is a 15-bed modified therapeutic community residential program that offers integrated self-help, recovery-oriented treatment along with psychiatric rehabilitation, 24-hour staffing, and placement in permanent housing. PICL offers all components of Psychiatric Rehabilitation in its day-to-day treatment with specific lesson plans and groups organized around functional skill sets in the following areas : social skills, vocational skills, tenancy skill building such as budgeting and financial planning, time management, emotional expression, and coping skills. The rehabilitative process focuses on each individual’s strengths and is a collaborative process between staff members and the residents. The program usually takes 12-18 months for residents to reach their recovery-focused goals.

While performing the duties of this job, employees are frequently required to stand, walk, lift, use hands to find, handle feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, listen, taste, and smell. The job also requires employees to lift and / or move objects up to 50lbs. The individual must be able to manage stairs on a frequent basis.
