Salary : $33,488-$39,544

The Department of Comparative Medicine is seeking a qualified candidate to till a full-time position of Laboratory Animal Caretaker to perform tasks in the following four categories : Animal husbandry - including feeding and watering of animals and sanitation of animal rooms; housekeeping; observations and reporting of animal conditions; and treatment and handling of animals.

Duties and Responsibilities :

• Attend to the physical needs of animals in both regular and barrier housing units
• Feed and water animals
• Clean and sanitization of cages, racks, food bins, rooms and other equipment.
• Maintain the general health of laboratory animals
• Monitor and report animals' conditions and disease
• Ensure that animals are properly identified and housed
• Collect and maintain data and records for animal rooms (room activity sheets, procedure room logs, cage wash temperature tape, etc)
• Put new activity sheets in the animal rooms and cage wash area
• Report and replace broken items in the animal rooms
