The City of Norton is an independent city located in the arrowhead portion of Virginia approximately 20 miles from the Kentucky state line and 45 miles from the Tennessee state line. - Centrally located at the intersection of U.S. 23 and Highway 58A, the city has for many years served the region as a commercial hub to parts of southwest Virginia and eastern Kentucky. The facility recently invested $12 million surgery project with four, state-of-the-art operating rooms. A $16.5 million dollar renovation project that included the ER, Cardio-pulmonary services, radiology equipment, diagnostic technology, EPIC EMR and a new Main and Emergency entrance was also recently completed. As the largest healthcare facility in the coalfield region, Hospital provides a wide of services through highly trained physicians and support staff. Supports a wide range of health care services including surgery, OB / GYN, pulmonary and critical care, rehabilitation services and much more. Recognized for its outstanding inpatient rehabilitation services, a black lung clinic and high-quality imaging technology. In 2016, Health Group completed the $13.3 million Health-Plex expansion. The Health-Plex not only has amazing views of the beautiful Southwest, VA mountains; but is a 39,000-square foot facility that includes a wellness center, pharmacy with drive-thru services, occupational medicine, outpatient rehabilitation, cardiac / pulmonary rehab, primary and orthopedic physician offices. 22-hospital health system, covering a 27-county area and is made up of three tertiary facilities, 19 community / critical access hospitals, seven cancer centers, 18 Urgent Care locations, 40+ primary care and multiple specialty offices through its employed arm Over 800 physicians and advanced practitioners.
Job Description
General Surgery opening - Norton, VA Located 45m to KingsportJ1 / H1 Eligible
- General bread & butter surgery experience and advanced laparoscopic skills required. Minimally invasive skills a plus

- The draw area serves a population of 75,000 to 100,000 which includes southwestern Virginia and southeastern Kentucky.
- There is a local 10-physician primary care network to supply patient referrals.
- This expansive service area of Southwest Virginia and Southeastern Kentucky holds huge potential.
- Goal is to find a general surgeon who shares the same philosophy as the Medical Group in being able to accommodate patients at home and not transfer them out of the area for their care.
- The hospital has expressed a large amount of flexibility to fit the needs of the new physician.
- If board-eligible, board certification must be completed within five years of completion of residency for all candidates.
