The limited term, full-time Fire Fighter will be under the supervision of the Fire Chief and / or designee in the Fire Department. The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to :
Emergency Medical – Trained in and able to perform CPR and Emergency Medical Technician. Understands use of and knows location of personal protective equipment for medical emergencies and / or biohazards.
Administer pre-hospital emergency medical care to the sick, injured, at the scene of an emergency response and disaster incidents. Utilize rescue and emergency medical equipment. Attend pertinent medical training classes, including in service and out service courses.
Respond to various fire alarms and take action to extinguish fires, minimize fire and water damage, and prevent injury and loss of life.
Knowledge of and ability to operate all fire equipment and apparatus and physical ability to perform manual labor with a variety of equipment including the ability to carry a minimum of 70 pounds; carry and work off ladders and to operate nozzles, fittings, hose, forcible entry tools, shovels, saws, etc; and the ability to use self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and to pass the annual respiratory fit test. Work on his / her hands and knees for prolonged periods of time work unassisted if necessary, work standing throughout the day and work with a variety of tools.
Demonstrate the following during training and on emergency incidents : firefighting skills, hazardous material incident skills, and rescue and medical skills.
This position is being filled as limited term and may be extented or become permanent.
