Overview
Join AAA The Auto Club Group as a Field Homeowner Adjuster (Saginaw, MI). The Auto Club Group is seeking a candidate who will work under minimal supervision with a high-level approval authority to handle complex technical issues and complex claims.
Responsibilities
- Review assigned claims, contact the insured and other affected parties, set expectations for the remainder of the claim process, and document actions in the claim handling system.
- Complete complex coverage analysis and ensure all possible policyholder benefits are identified.
- Create additional sub-claims if needed.
- Investigate the facts of the claim to determine if the claim should be paid, applicable limits or exclusions, and potential recovery.
- Conduct thorough reviews of damages and determine applicability of state law and other factors related to the claim.
- Evaluate the financial value of the loss and approve payments to appropriate parties.
- Refer claims to other company units when necessary (e.g., Underwriting, Recovery Units, or Claims Special Investigation Unit).
- Document and code the claim file and complete all closure activities in the assigned claims management system.
- Utilize strong negotiating skills and handle claims to the Claim Handling Standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- When handling field claims, prepare damage estimates using claims software, review estimates for accuracy, monitor contractor repair status, and assist with file reviews and training as needed.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Education : Complete ACG Claim Representative Training Program or equivalent knowledge or experience; in states requiring an Adjuster's license, eligibility to acquire within 90 days of hire and maintain as required; valid driver's license if in-person inspections or meetings are involved.Experience : Three years of experience or equivalent in negotiation of claim settlements, securing and evaluating evidence, preparing estimates, subrogation, resolving coverage questions, taking statements, and establishing evaluation and resolution plans for claims.Knowledge and Skills : Essential Insurance Act (Michigan), Fair Trade Practices Act as it relates to claims, subrogation procedures, intercompany arbitration, handling simple litigation, and building / repair techniques.Ability : Communicate effectively, build relationships with insureds / claimants, analyze and solve problems, prioritize claim tasks, manage time, safely operate a vehicle for inspections, travel as needed, and work evenings or weekends. Strong negotiating skills.Preferred Qualifications
Education : Associate degree in Business Administration, Insurance or related field or equivalent experience; completion of relevant professional designations or coursework (e.g., CPCU, Xactware / Xactimate).Ability : Lift up to 25 pounds, climb ladders, and walk on roofs.Work Environment
This position can be remote from a home office for day-to-day operations, with travel to field locations as needed. Location must be in or commutable to Saginaw, Michigan. This may be adjusted based on policy changes.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary : $65,700 - $82,000 annually with annual bonus potential based on performance. Benefits include 401k match, medical, dental, vision, PTO, paid holidays, and tuition reimbursement.
