Job Summary :

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for leading and managing all EHS programs at the Avgol America site in Mocksville, NC. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal standards aligned with ISO 14001 (Environmental), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety), and ISO 50001 (Energy Management) certifications.

The EHS Manager works cross-functionally with local and global teams, including Indorama Ventures, to drive continuous improvement, share best practices, and foster a proactive safety and sustainability culture.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Maintain site environmental permits and manage fire protection and operations & maintenance programs.
  • Site Sustainability Lead.
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analyses, ergonomic assessments, and system audits.
  • Analyze new equipment for safety risks and recommend appropriate safety measures.
  • Maintain the OSHA 300 Log and complete all required annual reporting.

Training & Culture Building

  • Provide leadership and direction to achieve the site’s EHS vision by engaging management, building strong relationships, and promoting employee ownership.
  • Support site leadership in developing short- and long-term EHS objectives, targets, and strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Develop and deliver safety and environmental training for all levels of plant operations.
  • Lead the site Safety Committee and promote a “Zero Injury Culture.”
  • Facilitate injury reviews to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Partner with Human Resources to manage Workers’ Compensation claims.
  • Lead Lessons Learned sessions and ensure corrective actions are applied to all Near-Miss and Incident events.
  • Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track, analyze and report safety and environmental performance metrics.
  • Report Site ESG data via Intelex software
  • Communicate site EnEHS activities and achievements across global teams.
  • Participate in cross-functional taskforces and special projects to support broader organizational goals
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5–10 years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Proven ability to implement safety policies and drive compliance.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.
  • Experience with ISO 14001, 45001, and 50001 management systems.
  • Familiarity with NFPA codes and Workers’ Compensation processes.
  • Experience in employee training and safety program development.
  • Physical Demands

    This role operates in both office and manufacturing environments. Non-office areas may have high noise levels and are not climate controlled. The position requires frequent standing, bending, stair climbing, and occasional lifting of up to forty pounds. Visual, auditory, and verbal communication abilities are essential.

    Travel & Remote Work

  • Travel : None required.
  • Remote Work : On-site role; remote work may be approved by exception for specific needs.
  • Environment

    Facility is a combination of (40%) manufacturing, (10%) warehouse and (50%) office. Non-Office areas are not climate controlled and are moderate to high noise levels. Physical requirements include lifting up to 15lbs, bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, reaching and some repetitive (computer) work.
