Harris-Stowe State University’s Office of Communications & Marketing is seeking a proactive, detail-driven D igital Media Specialist – Web & Digital Content to manage and elevate the University’s online presence through the Cascade CMS platform.
This entry-level position blends technical website management with digital storytelling — ensuring that web content is accurate, accessible, visually engaging, and strategically aligned with the University’s brand.
The Specialist will oversee Cascade page administrators, support content governance, and write original stories that highlight institutional initiatives, academic achievements, and campus impact.
K ey Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the University’s website through Cascade CMS , ensuring pages are current, compliant, and visually consistent.
- Train and support p age administrators across departments to uphold content quality, accessibility, and brand standards.
- Write, edit, and publish digital stories, news features, and landing pages that reflect University achievements and initiatives.
- Implement SEO and accessibility best practices to enhance visibility and user experience.
- Monitor site analytics (Google Analytics, Cascade reports) and develop recommendations for content and navigation improvements.
- Partner with IT on technical updates and with Communications staff on campaign integration.
- Collect and organize data for monthly Office of Communications & Marketing (OCM) digital reports.
- Collaborate across departments to identify and develop content that supports recruitment, retention, and community engagement.
- Provide on-site and digital coverage for University events, including photography, video, live social updates, and post-event storytelling.
- Provide event and digital campaign support as needed.
M inimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Digital Media, Web Design, or related field.At least one year of professional or internship experience in web content management, digital marketing, or related area.Familiarity with Cascade CMS or similar content management systems.Excellent written communication and editing skills.P referred Skills
Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and accessibility standards (WCAG).Experience with Google Analytics and SEO optimization.Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, or XD) for optimizing and formatting digital assets.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a collaborative, creative environment.
