Defense Investigator
GDIT is seeking a Defense Investigator to help support our OMC program in Arlington, VA. NOTE : Due to the secure work environment this role entails, telecommuting is not allowed and will require the employee to report full-time onsite in Arlington. Additional travel to Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba as well as other domestic and foreign locations will be necessary.
The Office of Military Commissions (OMC) and Military Commissions Defense Organization (MCDO) require an investigator to support defense counsel in multiple areas of pre-trial investigation and trial preparation for the Military Commissions convened under the Military Commissions Act of 2009. As a Defense Investigator supporting MCDO, will be responsible for assisting defense counsel in multiple areas of investigation, including, but not limited to :
- Reviewing factual allegations related to the case
- Psychosocial history of the defendant
- Government conduct of the investigation, interrogation, and prosecution of the defendant
- Expert witnesses for and against the defendant
- Cultural issues relating to the defendant
- Any other area of investigation deemed necessary by counsel for the defendant
- Participating in frequent travel, both local and international. Valid U.S. Passport required.
Travel Requirements : 25-50% international travel, or as determined by MCDO.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED - REQUIRED :
CLEARANCE : Active TS / SCI security clearance NOTE : clearance MUST be held in JPAS / DISSCITIZENSHIP : US Citizenship and A Valid U.S. Passport required.EDUCATION : Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Criminal Justice, Administration of Justice, Legal Studies, National Security, Intelligence, Paralegal Studies) or equivalent combinationYEAR'S EXPERIENCE : 5 years experience in a relevant discipline, including but not limited to law, law enforcement, criminal defense, intelligence analysis, psychology, social work, mental health related disciplines, anthropology, sociology, journalism, or human rights. In addition, at least 3 years of experience working with criminal defense, civil rights, immigration, or human rights attorneys on behalf of individual clients.SKILLS & ABILITIES :Experience with conducting interviewsKnowledge of the investigative process, rules of evidence, and familiarity with reviewing legal case materialsAbility to manage multiple, simultaneous task requirements within a fast-paced environmentExceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral), strong attention to detail, excellent analytical and presentation skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups in a demanding environmentAbility to work independentlyLOCATION : Onsite in Arlington, VA.
