SUMMARY : Responsible for programming and operating the CMM, performing in-process and final inspections, and documenting part setups to support consistent quality across operators.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Responsible for programming and operating the CMM using PC-DMIS software.
  • Develop CMM Inspection Reports including Point Maps as required.
  • Inspect finished and in-process fabricated or machined parts, equipment, and assemblies and determine acceptance or rejection using CMM and bench inspection as required.
  • Develop part set-up documentation in order to allow a less experienced CMM operator to set-up and inspect parts.
  • Provide first part buy-offs and perform first article inspections.
  • Identify and handle nonconforming product per company procedures.
  • Transpose CMM data into SPC as necessary and log key characteristics as required by customer.
  • Interpret CMM data to assist production in correcting any discrepancies.
  • Utilize CATIA to review engineering and aid Estimating Dept. as required.
  • As required, train other inspectors on CMM operation.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS :

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • PC-DMIS software certificate required or 3 years of relevant experience.
  • PC-DMIS scan technology preferred
  • CATIA-V5
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

  • Ability to communicate machine problems, quality issues and other concerns or questions to departmental management

  • Ability to use and interpret precision measurement equipment
  • Ability to interpret aircraft blueprints and engineering
  • Ability to interpret specs
  • Ability to interpret mylars
  • Ability to interpret GD&T
  • Ability to use various hand tools

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs
