The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients to maintain or restore patients to their maximum functional performance level and completes discharge planning. Evaluates and develops plan of care according to American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) guidelines. Administers occupational therapy treatments appropriate to diagnosis and to AOTA guidelines. Completes discharge planning according to AOTA guidelines by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers; contributing to patient care conferences. Documents and charges for patient care services by charting in patient and department records according to federal, state, and local regulations. Protects patients, employees, and visitors by promoting infection-control and safety policies and protocols. Meets productivity standards. Ensures operation of equipment, follows manufacturer's instructions; troubleshoots malfunctions and reports the need for repair to supervisor. Supervises Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, Rehab Aides, other support staff, and students Other duties as assigned. Required Education : Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy Preferred Education : Masters degree in Occupational Therapy Preferred Experience : Hospital-based experience Required Certifications and Licensures : Licensed Occupational Therapist by the Virginia Department of Health Professions
