About The Position

Job Title : Telemetry Nurse

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : 1-2 years preferred in Telemetry and Med Surg acute care setting

License : Current nursing license

Certifications : BLS required, ACLS preferred

Must-Have :

1-2 years of experience in Telemetry, including experience in MedSurg acute care setting.

Charge nurse 24 / 7 will take 0-2 patients when needed.

Nurse managers do not provide patient care but perform rounds.

Support staff includes Tele techs, charge nurse, health unit coordinators, and patient care technicians.

Nursing assistants split the floor, each taking up to 9 patients.

Registered nurse to patient ratios are 1 : 4 and 1 : 3 for stepdown.

Telemetry monitors used are Phillips; there is a monitor tech room.

Nurses are expected to validate monitor tech interpretations and document as needed.

Common medications include Cardizem, amiodarone, bumex, Lasix, integrillin, octreotide, and protonix.

No ventilators; however, high flow oxygen is provided for specific patients.

Hospitalists are in-house 24 / 7.

Respiratory therapists and pharmacy staff are available 24 / 7.

Weekend requirement includes every other weekend.

Common diagnoses include acute myocardial infraction, stroke, pneumonia, renal issues, atrial fibrillation, and diabetes.

Floating may occur to all Med Surg units.
