PAY : $15.00per hour DOE

HOURS : 8 : 00AM - 4 : 30PM

What We Are Looking For :

The Activities Director is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing a comprehensive activities program designed to meet the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual needs of residents. The program will promote engagement, enhance quality of life, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations.

What You Will Do :

Program Development & Implementation

Plan, organize, and direct group and individual activities including recreational, cultural, spiritual, educational, and seasonal events.

Ensure activities are adapted to meet the needs, abilities, and preferences of each resident.

Maintain an activities calendar and communicate upcoming events to residents, staff, and families.

Resident Engagement

Assess residents’ interests, needs, and limitations through interviews, observations, and care plan meetings.

Provide one-on-one activities for residents unable to participate in group programs.

Administrative Duties

Develop and manage the activities budget; maintain adequate supplies and equipment.

Maintain accurate attendance records, resident assessments, and required documentation.

Ensure compliance with Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and CMS regulations for activities programming.

Complete Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments within the Assessment Reference Date (ARD) window.

Coordinate and complete scheduled, routine resident shopping as requested or required.

Collaboration

Work closely with nursing, dietary, social services, and therapy departments to support whole-person care.

Coordinate volunteer programs, including recruitment, training, and scheduling.

Communicate regularly with residents’ families to encourage participation and gather feedback.

Safety & Compliance

Follow infection control protocols and ensure activity areas are safe and hazard-free.

Maintain compliance with HIPAA and resident confidentiality standards.

What You Will Bring :

High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in recreation therapy, social work, or related field preferred).

Valid driver’s license required.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in activities programming, preferably in long-term care or healthcare settings.

Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, activity scheduling software).

Work Environment :

The Activities Director works in a healthcare facility with frequent interaction with residents, families, staff, and volunteers. This position requires patience, creativity, and adaptability to meet the changing needs of residents.
