POSITION PURPOSE :

This position is responsible for leading Heath, Safety and Environmental (HSE) improvement and compliance including field and workshop inspections, HSE audits and participation in improvement projects at our manufacturing facility in Erie, Pennsylvania. This position supports and implements the company’s HSE global initiatives as well as local site management.

POSITION DUTIES :

  • Execute and enforce health, safety, and environmental policies within the organization.
  • Lead field and workshop HSE inspections for HSE compliance with internal and external compliance and lead internal / external audits.
  • Identifying, evaluating, and managing safety, health, and environmental risks.
  • Take action and implement an intervention when at-risk activities are observed.
  • Provide support for incident and near miss investigations, problem resolution, and appropriate feedback (positive and corrective) within the teams and sites.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans, conduct drills, and ensure the availability of necessary safety equipment.
  • Train, monitor, and coaches team members to ensure adherence to HSE principles, policies and standards.
  • Assist with Guidant’s customer compliance programs (ISN, NCMS, Avetta, etc.)
  • Assist with Worker’s Compensation cases.
  • Leads Safety Committees
  • Supports all HSE recordkeeping and other administrative activities.
  • Assist in environmental compliance and projects.
  • Support federal and state mandated employee safety and health monitoring programs.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on incidents, audits, and corrective measures.
  • Attend customer HSE related training and meetings when required.
  • Report out findings and project status to site management.
  • Liaison between operational teams and HSE services to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Propose initiatives to enhance HSE performance and reduce risks.
  • Provides support for other HSE duties or initiatives as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 or more years of experience in HSE preferred or relative workplace experience
  • Lead process and influence team and others
  • 2 or more years thorough knowledge of HSE regulations.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities to access situations.
  • Experience in field services and / or industrial workshop environment.
  • PC Skills with intermediate competency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge and work experience with one or more programs or processes such as : risk assessment, behavioral based safety, environmental, industrial hygiene, inspection, auditing, root cause analysis, incident investigation.
  • Must possess a valid DL and clean driving record.
  • Some travel to other locations
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Prefer professional certification in HSE related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills at different levels of an organization.
  • Strategic, process improvement thinking & knowledge.
  • Team player and ability to coordinate HSE activities.
  • Self-directed, goal oriented and creative, to be able to identify and maximize opportunities.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT :

    Spends 40% of time in office environment, 60% in workshop or field service. Some travel may require extended drive time. May be exposed to possible hazards such as mobile equipment, heavy product, cranes and lifting and loud noise.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

    Spends 40% of time sitting and operating a computer or workstation. Spends 60% of driving (potentially a company vehicle, walking, standing with possible lifting, pushing and pulling.
