General Definition of Work
Performs intermediate administrative and protective service work in the provision of grants and other funding mechanisms, planning and supervising various educational and vocational programs and services for inmates, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Deputy Warden. Continuous supervision is exercised over inmates.

Essential Functions
Facilitate all prison programs to include GED, Motivation for Change, Thinking for Change, re-entry, forklift, OSHA, and ServeSafe.
Develop future programs to include Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), Family Violence Intervention Program, Anger Management, and on the job training (OJT) related to body shape, automotive, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, CDL, etc.
Create and maintain healthy working relationships with community education and vocational partners that support the various prison programs. Relationships including but not limited to West GA Tech and other educational institutions, local counseling providers and various civic and non-profit organizations
Prepare and submit monthly reports to Georgia Department of Corrections and the County
Coordinate with prison case managers (counselors) to ensure offenders are meeting case plan milestones
Plan and help execute ceremonies such as GED graduation and other special events related to offender programs
Act as a liaison between offender religious groups and the Warden
Oversee offender-led outreach programs
Enter program-related information into the state-wide offender database (SCRIBE)
Access GCIC / NCIC to check offender’s criminal history as it relates to their suitability for program-involvement and assist counselors / case managers with visitation inquiries
Identify and complete grant applications and research other funding mechanisms to help support offender programs
Encourages and promotes a culture of excellent service.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of related industry, organization and department policies, practices, and procedures; general knowledge of related industry, organization, and departmental legal guides, recommendations, best practices, ordinances, and laws; thorough knowledge of power point and other presentation applications used while instructing others; thorough knowledge of standard office equipment and software; thorough knowledge of SCRIBE (state offender database) and GCIC / NCIC; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages; knowledge of grants and ability to identify and apply for various funding opportunities; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Federal, State, and County agency representatives, community leaders, institution staff, and the general public.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree with coursework in criminology, counseling, penology, social work, sociology, or related field and considerable experience in correctional setting or experience in education or vocational programming.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires sitting and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, tasting or smelling, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and / or small parts, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to outdoor weather conditions and wearing a self-contained breathing apparatus; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
Special Requirements
Obtain Basic Correctional Officer Training (POST) and GCIC Operator certifications within one year.
Complete Anger Management / FVIP Facilitator / Instructor and Moral Reconation Therapy Facilitator certifications with one year
Favorable background history as determined by review of local, State and Federal records.
Valid driver’s license in the State of Georgia with a favorable driving history (MVR).
