Our partner, a leading national community development organization, is seeking an experienced Senior Asset Manager – Small Business Lending to oversee and manage its small business loan portfolio. The organization works with local partners across the country to strengthen communities by providing access to capital, equity, and technical assistance that help close gaps in opportunity and economic growth.
This role reports to the Vice President of Credit and Asset Management and collaborates closely with small business lending staff to monitor, track, and report on portfolio performance while supporting the broader goals of the lending department.
Responsibilities
- Manage a diverse small business loan portfolio across multiple products and regions.
- Serve as the workout lead for challenged loans.
- Conduct risk ratings and prepare performance reports for committee review.
- Prepare and present quarterly loan watch reports.
- Coordinate accurate loan disbursements and records with servicing personnel.
- Communicate with borrowers regarding loan maturities, payments, and compliance matters.
- Analyze loan performance and identify repayment risks.
- Engage with borrowers to resolve issues and recommend solutions.
- Review and track insurance certificates for active loans.
- Prepare and support post-closing amendments and restructurings.
- Verify that documentation aligns with credit approvals and legal requirements.
- Recommend structural improvements for stressed credits.
- Negotiate workout and restructuring terms with borrowers and guarantors.
- Prepare and justify loan write-offs with supporting documentation.
- Supervise and mentor the Small Business Asset Manager :
- Provide ongoing training and guidance.
- Set and track performance expectations and KPIs.
- Review and provide feedback on monitoring and watch reports.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth loan hand-offs and portfolio reconciliation.
- Confirm monthly remittance reporting accuracy and reconcile trial balances.
- Maintain data integrity within the loan administration system.
- Produce ad hoc portfolio reports as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.Minimum of 5 years of small business lending experience.Strong understanding of small business commercial credits (primarily C&I), real estate, and finance.Experience in asset management, credit analysis, or underwriting preferred.Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.Benefits
Compensation :
Competitive salary range of $102,000–$127,500 , commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications.
