Job description

Overview

The role of a People Partner at Manulife is a dynamic position requiring strong skills in human resources, data acumen, listening and insights, and leadership coaching and mentoring. This role blends market-leading practices with a strategic understanding of how the business operates, engaging leaders in an enterprise-wide talent strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic partner to aligned Private Markets business teams to develop and drive the people strategy, workforce planning (e.g., skills, structure, people, etc.), talent management, and organizational change.
  • Act as a thought leader and agent of change for the People function, continuously assessing opportunities and risks, driving continuous improvement, and showing how People / Comms can benefit the broader organization.
  • Be the face of "One People / Comms" to leadership, ensuring People partners and resources are delivered in a customer-centered way to support acquisition, engagement and retention of top talent in line with business needs.
  • Actively analyze data to communicate insights back to the business to advise their people-related strategies and priorities.
  • Proactively drive talent identification and development processes to ensure Private Markets leaders deliver meaningful career experiences while maintaining bench strength and succession for officer and critical roles.
  • Partner with the wider People function to leverage global scale, contribute to its agenda, and operate as one team.
  • Provide feedback, advice and coaching to senior leaders on talent issues and leadership strategies.
  • Anticipate the impact of change on the organization and provide education to leaders, escalating as appropriate.
  • Oversee delivery of cyclical employee initiatives such as Employee Engagement Survey, Performance Management, Talent Review, and Compensation cycles for assigned client groups.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to a small team of People Partners in global locations supporting the distributed Timber and Agricultural business.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience across several People Practice disciplines
  • Proven success as a leadership coach with the ability to influence, collaborate, negotiate, and operate in a global matrixed environment
  • Ability to use data and analytics to drive business solutions
  • Strong network to bring thought leadership into the function and raise Manulife\'s profile
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience delivering to senior audiences
  • Client-centric with focus on the employee experience
  • Strategic partnership orientation; seek input from clients to meet organizational needs
  • Excellent business and professional judgment with the ability to drive outcomes in ambiguity
  • Courage : ability to influence and negotiate with partners inside and outside client groups
