PICU RN Job Details - Urbana, IL Location : Urbana, IL 61801 (Illinois healthcare jobs) Facility Setting : Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Assignment Type : Travel Nurse, On-Site Start Date : December 1, 2025 End Date : February 28, 2026 Contract Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Nights, 7 : 00 PM - 7 : 30 AM Hours per Week : 36 (3x12 hour shifts) Guaranteed Hours : 36 per week Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $2250-$2310 PICU Registered Nurse Qualifications Minimum 3 years of recent PICU or pediatric nursing experience (pediatric critical care preferred) Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred Active Illinois RN license in good standing (Illinois nursing jobs) BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (American Heart Association required) Strong clinical assessment, communication, and electronic documentation skills PICU RN Responsibilities Deliver high-quality nursing care to pediatric patients in the PICU, following evidence-based practices Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans Implement and adjust care plans based on patient status and family needs Monitor vital signs, manage intake / output, change dressings, insert catheters, start IVs, and administer medications using bar code scanning Alert providers to critical lab results and act as a mandated reporter for suspected child abuse or neglect Communicate effectively with patients and families through hourly rounding, bedside reporting, and whiteboard updates Collaborate with Pediatric Intensivists, Hospitalists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve optimal outcomes Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all nursing interventions Promote patient and staff safety by identifying and addressing safety hazards Support peer professional development and participate in ongoing clinical education Experience the lively downtown, diverse dining, and outdoor recreation of Urbana, IL while making a meaningful impact in pediatric healthcare.
