Primary Purpose

The Custodial Technician is responsible for, under the general direction of the Manager of Facilities and Grounds, maintaining the clean appearance of the main campus building and the Medical Office Building. This includes maintaining cleanliness of floors, bathrooms, break rooms, surfaces, classrooms, common areas and other areas in the buildings.

Essential Job Functions

• Cleaning bathrooms
• Cleaning break rooms
• Replenishing bathroom supplies
• Vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and cleaning surfaces
• Cleaning windows
• Working with a team of housekeepers and facilities technicians
• Cleaning, disinfecting, and storing all equipment at the end of the shift
• Monitoring and reporting on the inventory of cleaning supplies
• Responding to requests for housekeeping problems, such as spills and broken glass
• Collecting and removing trash and debris
• Assisting with laundry management, including washing, drying, ironing, and sorting linen
• Cleaning upholstered and non-upholstered furniture
• Performing detailed deep cleaning when required
• Cleaning all areas, including the anatomy lab when required
• Reporting safety issues and property damage to supervisor
• Reporting and returning lost property
• Maintaining a positive relationship with employees, students, tenants, and guests

Marginal Job Functions

Assist administration, faculty, and staff in special projects as needed under the direction of the Facilities Manager.
