Healthcare Operations Lead - San Francisco - Remote (US)

Location : Ideally San Francisco, but open to remote across U.S.

Type : Full-time (open to contract-to-hire) hands-on, not a people-manager role

Compensation : Competitive salary + high equity (choose high-salary or high-equity track)

This fast-growing seed-stage healthtech startup is expanding rapidly but growth only matters if the patient and customer experience stays exceptional. The team is looking for a senior, hands-on operator to strengthen its operational backbone and ensure seamless care delivery.

Youll work across credentialing, payer contracting, provider onboarding, and daily operational workflows all while ensuring no patient falls through the cracks, no credentialing deadline slips, and no key detail is overlooked.

This is a doers role not one for people who prefer managing from a distance. Youll roll up your sleeves, fix broken workflows, and build scalable processes that make the company faster, more consistent, and more resilient.

What Youll Do

1. Own Credentialing & Compliance Workflows

  • Manage provider credentialing, payer enrollment, and compliance processes.
  • Keep every contract, license, and NPI file audit-ready.

2. Be the Operational Glue

  • Coordinate across advocates, providers, and payers to eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Translate leadership priorities into clear, actionable steps.
  • 3. Drive Process Excellence

  • Build and document repeatable workflows for billing, scheduling, and intake.
  • Identify and resolve operational inefficiencies quickly.
  • 4. Champion the Customer Experience

  • Monitor every patient and partner touchpoint to ensure a smooth, consistent experience.
  • Close the loop on dropped calls, delayed follow-ups, or missed handoffs.
  • 5. Support Leadership with Data & Insights

  • Track KPIs across credentialing, throughput, and satisfaction.
  • Prepare dashboards and briefings for internal and investor updates.
  • Youre a Fit If You...

  • 7+ years in healthcare operations (Seed to Series C experience preferred
  • Proven ability to run and scale internal operations (clinical + business
  • Recruiting and team-building experience
  • Analytical rigor (background in ops research, econ, finance a plus)
  • Healthcare expertise (must-have); health plan / system experience
  • Have direct experience with credentialing or payer enrollment.
  • Are customer-obsessed , viewing operations through the lens of patient experience.
  • Thrive in high-ambiguity, fast-paced environments and can prioritize effectively.
  • Are hands-on and execution-driven you fix the issue first, then document the process.
  • Communicate with clarity across a wide range of stakeholders from senior patients to payer executives.
  • Bonus Points If Youve :

  • Worked with Medicare or Medicaid populations.
  • Managed billing, coding, or revenue cycle operations.
  • Served as the right hand to founders or leadership teams in a high-growth healthcare startup.
