Commercial Underwriter

Location : Macon, Georgia

Employment Type : Full-Time

Salary Range : $80,000 – $135,000 (Based on Experience)

Reports To : Underwriting Manager / Director of Underwriting

Position Summary :

We are seeking an experienced and analytical Commercial Insurance Underwriter to join our team in Macon, GA . The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of underwriting experience with a strong background in insurance captives workers' compensation , and commercial auto lines. This role is critical to our continued growth and will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting complex commercial risks while maintaining profitable underwriting practices and strong broker relationships.

Key Responsibilities :

• Underwrite and analyze new and renewal submissions for workers' compensation general / commercial auto , and captive programs
• Evaluate risk characteristics, loss history, financials, and industry hazards to determine appropriate pricing, terms, and coverage.
• Collaborate closely with brokers, agents, and internal stakeholders to drive profitable growth and maintain strong relationships.
• Prepare detailed underwriting recommendations and documentation for approval as needed.
• Ensure underwriting decisions comply with company guidelines, state regulations, and industry best practices.
• Monitor portfolio performance and adjust strategies based on risk trends and market conditions.
• Assist in the development and refinement of underwriting processes, rating models, and program guidelines.
• Participate in underwriting audits and contribute to internal training and mentoring initiatives.
