Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

Location : Midlothian, VA 23114 (Richmond area)

Assignment Type : Travel Nursing

Healthcare Setting : Hospital – Labor & Delivery Unit (12 beds, high acuity)

Start Date : November 17, 2025

End Date : February 14, 2026

Contract Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 12-hour nights (7 : 00 PM – 7 : 00 AM); every other weekend and major holiday required

Hours per Week : 36

On Call : Up to 24 hours per 6 weeks

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1990 - $2130

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state

Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience, including antepartum, intrapartum, cesarean section, postpartum, and magnesium sulfate administration

Hospital-based L&D RN experience required

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) required or must obtain within specified timeframe

Preferred : Experience with EPIC and Perinatal Centricity (QS) electronic health records

Preferred : Ability to scrub and assist in deliveries

Strong skills in fetal heart monitoring, operating room (OR) procedures, cardiac monitoring, infant warmer use, and blood glucose monitoring

Willingness to float within the New Life Center or to other Labor & Delivery units as needed

No local travelers (must reside outside a 50-mile radius of Midlothian, VA)

Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive, family-centered care to women and newborns throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum stages

Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes

Administer medications and manage interventions, including magnesium sulfate and emergency care

Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs, interpret clinical data, and respond promptly to changes

Assist with cesarean sections and deliveries, including scrubbing and circulating as appropriate

Educate and support patients and families on childbirth, breastfeeding, and newborn care

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe, high-quality patient care

Maintain accurate documentation and uphold patient safety and infection control standards

Support a diverse patient population, including those with language barriers, substance use, and chronic conditions

Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development
