Storekeeper - $20.00 / HOUR
A company in Santa Teresa, NM needs a Storekeeper. The Storekeeper is responsible for the overall management of the company's inventory, including raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished wire and cable products. This role ensures efficient stock control, accurate record-keeping, and the seamless flow of materials to and from the production floor to prevent delays and maintain productivity.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Inventory management and control
- Maintain accurate inventory records through regular cycle counts and perpetual inventory tracking.
- Utilize inventory management or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software to record all stock movements.
- Ensure proper storage conditions for all materials, including fragile and specialized components, to prevent damage or deterioration.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate with the procurement department to generate purchase orders for new supplies, ensuring minimum and maximum stock levels are maintained.
- Identify and report obsolete or slow-moving stock for management's review and disposition.
Receiving and inspection
Receive, unload, and inspect all incoming shipments of raw materials and goods.Reconcile deliveries with purchase orders and packing lists, reporting any discrepancies, damages, or shortages to the relevant parties.Tag or label incoming materials with lot numbers and other identifying information to ensure traceability.Issuing and dispatching
Issue materials and components to the production floor based on approved requisitions.Ensure the accurate picking and staging of finished goods for shipment, verifying against shipping orders.Coordinate with logistics partners and internal teams to prepare and dispatch finished products to customers.Housekeeping and safety
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and storage area, adhering to all health and safety regulations.Perform all duties in compliance with company safety procedures, including the safe operation of material handling equipment.Ensure all safety protocols are followed, particularly when handling potentially hazardous materials used in cable insulation.Qualifications
Education : A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Some companies may prefer a certification in inventory management or logistics.Experience : Proven experience as a Storekeeper, Warehouse Clerk, or a similar role in a manufacturing environment is highly desired. Experience in the wire and cable industry is a plus.Technical skills :Proficiency with inventory management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP).Familiarity with barcode scanning and other inventory tracking technologies.Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).Physical demands :Ability to lift and move heavy items, as some materials in wire manufacturing can be bulky and heavy.Certification for operating a forklift and other material handling equipment is often required.Soft skills :Excellent organizational and time management skills.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Good communication and interpersonal abilities to coordinate with different departments.If interested, please call
