Design Engineer – Hartford area Our client has a need for a Design Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the creation, modification, documentation, and general support of mechanical based design. The Design Engineer will be expected to create and modify designs to support the new developments and innovations in their niche product line of industrial instruments, equipment, and accessories. The role also includes the development and documentation of manufacturing processes for new and existing products and the technical advisement of other departments. No relocation or visa sponsorship assistance at this time. Summary Work closely with other departments and employees across the company. Daily activities will vary between desk work and floor time as tasks demand, with occasional meetings and team discussions. The Design Engineer will be expected to play a role in most product-related activities, including the following key responsibilities :
- Design and develop both parts and complete solutions for both products and internal fixtures.
- Create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using CAD software.
- Perform engineering calculations to verify design integrity, structural strength, and performance.
- Provide technical advisement to sales, production, customers, etc. upon request.
- Collaborate with electronics engineers on system integration and data acquisition requirements.
- Work closely with production to support assembly, testing, machining processes, and prototype builds.
- Create and maintain Bill of Material (BOM) lists and enter them into an MRP system.
- Troubleshoot design and performance issues during prototyping and field applications.
- Establish, maintain, and advise on key features and measurements for assessment in quality inspections.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for product reliability, manufacturability, and cost reduction.

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a mechanical design engineer
- Strong proficiency with mechanical CAD software (Fusion 360 preferred)
- Knowledge of common manufacturing technical knowledge and processes such as CNC machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, fastening, material compositions, and surface finishes.
- Must be detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
- Experience performing FEM analysis is preferred.
