Department Summary

The Computer Science Department strives for excellence in creating, applying, and imparting knowledge in computer science and engineering through comprehensive educational programs, research in collaboration with industry and government, dissemination through scholarly publications, and service to professional societies, the community, the state, and the nation.

Position Summary

The UCLA Department of Computer Science is seeking an IT professional to support the IT team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in installation, configuration, maintenance, as well as security of computer systems.

Salary & Compensation

UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications

A minimum of two years of experience in installing and maintaining system-level software in a Linux environment (Required)

Demonstrated detailed knowledge of the Unix operating system and available system resources (Required)

Working knowledge of all computer hardware with the ability to troubleshoot and fix when necessary (Required)

Detailed knowledge of computer security issues, security resources available and possess the the ability to adapt to changing security needs of the department (Preferred)

Working knowledge of networking and common communication protocols such as TCP / IP and UDP (Required)

Ability to interact with both technical and non-technical users regarding solutions and security issues (Preferred)

Must have good working knowledge of shell scripting (Required)

Must have good working knowledge of ZFS (Required)

Special Conditions for Employment

Background Check : Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.

Live Scan Background Check : A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
