The Physical Therapist (PT) working in the EI setting will introduce motion and mobility, ensuring children function at their personal best. The PT treats conditions related to genetic, neurological, and orthopedic disorders. The PT will provide support to the family of the child receiving services in the EI program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

• Meeting client diagnosis needs and goals.
• Meeting the EI program documentation requirements
• Meeting the EI program billing deadlines
• Providing face-to-face services and communication with families.
• Identify and meet the child’s goals and needs as recorded in the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
• Develop care plans using quality and personalized evidence-based treatment techniques that improve the child’s motion and mobility.
• Evaluate the effects of the treatment plan and communicate the progress to the family.
• Attends the Transdisciplinary Team Consultation Meetings (TTCM) with the other team members providing services to the child.
• Provide quality documentation of the treatment services to the EI billing department.
• Provide the Delivered Service Log and Daily Notes to the EI Billing Department according to the EI program guidelines.
• The PT position in the Early Intervention program provides services to the children on their caseload according to the goals and outcomes on the IFSP.
• The PT provides strategies and makes suggestions to the child’s family that will enable the family to assist the child to meet developmental milestones.
• The PT conducts evaluations to determine the child’s continued eligibility in the FIT program.
• The PT participates in the 6-month review of the IFSP.
• Complete the delivery of the IFSP services according to the IFSP each week.
• Communicating with families and empowering the family to use the strategies.
• Completes the Daily Notes, and the Delivered Services Log submitting to the EI billing department.
• Completes the benchmark required for your position.
• Supervise a PTA as necessary.
• All other job duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Graduate degree or higher in Physical Therapy from an educational program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association.

Licensure from the NM Physical Therapy Licensing Board

Work experience as a Physical Therapist.

Bilingual skills English / Spanish are a plus.

Ability to use decision making skills that objectively and fairly evaluate a situation, ensuring an ethical decision is made that balances the needs of the client, the needs of the oneself, and the needs of the company.

Ability to work in a changing environment, gathering relevant information and applying critical thinking to integrate a change or modify a program with minimal personal and client resistance.

A car in good working order, a valid driver’s license, and appropriate auto insurance are required to complete home visits in the EI program.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT :

Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds (e.g., boxes, equipment) without assistance. Capability to stand and walk for extended periods, including moving around the workspace, performing tasks, and interacting with colleagues or customers. Must be able to bend, stoop, crouch, and kneel to access various items, equipment, or workspaces as required. Aptitude to reach overhead, horizontally, and below waist level to retrieve and handle objects or materials. Capacity to perform physically demanding tasks continuously throughout the workday. Physical ability to move freely and quickly in various work environments, including navigating stairs, ramps, or uneven terrain if necessary.
