Physician Department of Surgery, Abdominal and Hernia General Surgeon (Open Rank / Track Faculty)

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a general surgeon with focus on complex abdominal wall surgery and hernia repair to join the Department of Surgery. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.

Position Overview

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) along with The Division of General and Gastrointestinal Surgery within the Department of Surgery is seeking a General Surgeon with a focus on complex abdominal wall surgery and hernia repair to join its elite team of surgeons. The candidate surgeon will take an active role in the Center for Abdominal Core Health caring for patients with simple and complex abdominal wall issues. The candidate should have a record of success in basic / translation science, health services research, or clinical trials. The position will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level and candidate must have completed a general surgery fellowship with focus on abdominal wall surgery. This position is full time and will be based at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center University Hospital. In addition, the candidate will perform a high volume of operations within Ohio States Ambulatory / Outpatient Surgery Centers The position offers the potential for growth and offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

Requirements

• Board Certified in General Surgery
• Successful completion of a General Surgery Fellowship with focus on Abdominal Wall Surgery
• Academic Experience highly desired
• Eligible for State of Ohio medical licensure
• Qualify for academic appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training and experience

Faculty Defined

Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), doctorate (PhD) orother terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and areappointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal careerfocus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and / or research.

Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, orprofessor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate(PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary careerfocus centers on research, service, and teaching.Tenure-track faculty with MD, DO or MD / PhD degrees may also beinvolved in clinical care.

Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associateprofessor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate(PhD) or other terminal degree inthe relevant field of study.Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and areappointed for terms ofone to five years. Their principal careerfocus is research.
