Job Title : Key Holder / Front of House Shift Supervisor

Location : Rusty Rail Brewing Company - Mifflinburg, PA Reports To : Front of House Manager / General Manager Department : Restaurant Operations

Position Summary :

The Key Holder / Shift Supervisor plays a vital leadership role in ensuring smooth daily operations of the Rusty Rail Brewing Company's Front of House (FOH). This is a hybrid role that would at times find the individual serving or bartending when other managers are covering the floor. The appropriate individual would have experience in either bartending or serving and possess extremely good team working skills. This individual leads by example, supports service excellence, manages shift flow, and upholds company standards of hospitality, safety, and efficiency. Acting as a direct support to management, this role serves as the point of contact during assigned shifts and is entrusted with keyholder responsibilities, including opening, closing, and cash management procedures.

Key Responsibilities :

Shift Leadership & Operations

  • Supervise daily FOH operations including restaurant, bar, and host areas.
  • Lead pre-shift meetings and communicate daily priorities, specials, and service goals.
  • Ensure smooth transitions between shifts, coordinating with kitchen, bar, and event teams.
  • Maintain composure and professionalism while resolving guest concerns promptly.
  • Oversee opening and closing procedures including cash handling, drawer counts, and end-of-day reports.

Staff Management

  • Provide on-the-floor leadership, motivating servers, bartenders, hosts, and bussers to deliver top-tier service.
  • Monitor employee performance and coach staff to maintain service standards.
  • Support onboarding and training new team members.
  • Ensure staff adherence to timekeeping, uniform, and conduct policies.

    • Customer Experience

  • Ensure every guest receives exceptional hospitality consistent with Rusty Rail's brand values.
  • Monitor table turn times, wait lists, and service pacing to maintain a balanced flow.
  • Handle guest feedback with professionalism and ensure timely resolution.

    • Administrative & Facility Duties

  • Execute keyholder responsibilities, including building security and alarm systems.
  • Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and presentation of all FOH spaces meet company standards.
  • Communicate supply needs, equipment issues, and staffing concerns to management.
  • Support special events, large reservations, and brewery promotions as needed.

    • Qualifications :

  • 2+ years of restaurant or hospitality experience in either serving or bartending required; 1+ year in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and trustworthy with keyholder responsibilities.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Knowledge of craft beer, food service, and POS systems (Toast preferred) a plus.

    • Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Lift up to 30 lbs as needed.
  • Comfortable working in a high-energy, customer-facing environment.
