ERG is seeking a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician with mid- to senior-level experience to assist with facilities projects for a Department of Defense (DoD) client. In this role you will perform HVAC Maintenance support such as, assisting with HVAC installations, routine maintenance, repair and troubleshooting related to mechanical, electrical, and low-voltage controls. The position is based out of a federal site in Indian Head, Maryland. The ideal candidate should be capable of scoping, estimating, and planning for minor HVAC repair projects and must be motivated with the skills to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
This position will be full-time at the federal site in Indian Head, MD, and will include interaction and support from ERG personnel at the federal site, as well as from ERG's Fairfax and Arlington offices. Indian Head is approximately 30 miles from Washington, DC, 25 miles from Alexandria, VA, and 60 miles from Fredericksburg, VA.
Job Description :
- Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and cooling units
- Diagnose and repair electronic, mechanical, and electrical components of these systems
- Preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair to a variety of commercial HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, water source heat pumps, cooling towers, package rooftops, split systems, controls, pumps, VAVs
- Support the full life cycle of small-scale projects from initial concept design through project completion
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on facilities and equipment, including HVAC, electrical, digital controls, and other mechanical systems
- Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with facilities and equipment, and repair or replace defective parts as needed
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests
- Conduct site visits to document existing facility conditions and develop new requirements
- Prepare technical memoranda / reports to document facility conditions and project status
- Ensure that all facilities are in compliance with applicable codes and regulations
- Maintain accurate records related to maintenance activities and administrative tasks, including work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, equipment inventory, and time sheets
Qualifications and Skills :
At least 2 years of HVAC experience and current Journeyman licensureHigh school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in facilities maintenance, engineering, or a related field preferredEnvironmental Protection Agency (EPA) Refrigerant Reclamation and Recovery CertificationAbility to read and interpret wiring diagrams and blueprintsStrong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other mechanical systemsBe familiar with a wide range of equipment and troubleshooting techniquesExperience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) requiredFamiliarity with state and local building codes, OSHA regulations, and NFPA standards a plusStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamMust currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance; Must be a U.S. citizen as this position is not eligible for Limited Access AuthorizationsThis position will require a pre-employment physical examThis position requires lifting objects weighing up to 100 poundsWork may be performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g., fumes, dust, heat, ionizing, and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals) You may be required to participate in medical surveillance programsMust be able to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shiftsMust be able to use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move items aroundMust be able to go up and down stairs.
