Position Summary :
Assists in all aspects of office operations to include reception, patient interaction, scheduling patients, venipuncture for labs, and patient vital signs. Assigning ICD-10 codes to patient charts, working with reimbursement programs and precertification's for drugs, testing and treatments.
Education, License & Cert :
Graduate of an approved clinical / medical assisting program or High School Diploma with prior clinical assistance experience. Basic Life Support encouraged but not required.
Experience :
Prior experience as a clinical assistant preferred or experience with patient care in or outside of the office setting.
Essential Functions :
- 1. Supports providers, nurses, and other cancer center staff with patient care. - a. Directs patients to and from examining room and prepares patients for examination by provider and follow up infusion as required.
- b. Obtains vital signs, heights, and weights and documents in correct patient charts.
- 2. Performs routine phlebotomies on patients scheduled for lab work. - a. Obtains labs and results and promptly gets them to ordering provider. b. Performs good infection control practices.
- 3. Maintains patient charts and ensures appropriate documentation. - a. Ensures all documentation is complete in patients' charts.
- b. Helps answer telephone calls from patients, directs calls as needed, and documents call and intervention in patient chart.
- 4. Ensures appropriate stock of supplies, equipment, and linen in patient exam rooms. - a. Stocks exam rooms and medication room with supplies.
- b. Distributes laundry daily to exam rooms and changing area.
- 5. Obtains preauthorization on medication, procedures, and testing as required. - a. Ensures authorization is completed on all required testing and medication prior to date of medication, procedure, or test.

The pay ranges from $17.00-$25.16 per hour
