Job Description :
As an Associate Security Engineer, this role supports data security, compliance readiness, and audit activities across multiple teams. It is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals passionate about data privacy, governance, and secure cloud operations. The position involves assisting with secure data pipeline design, compliance implementation, and audit documentation while collaborating with engineering and GRC teams.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist in designing and monitoring secure data pipelines on AWS and Azure
- Collaborate with compliance and audit teams to implement HIPAA, PCI-DSS, IRS Pub 1075, and SOC2 controls
- Support development of audit documentation and compliance training
- Participate in security reviews, risk analyses, and remediation activities
- Configure and monitor access controls, encryption, and data masking protocols
- Work with data engineering teams to secure structured and unstructured data
- Engage in continuous learning for security certifications and frameworks
Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies :
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (recent grads welcome)Up to 1-2 years' experience or internship in data compliance, data engineering, or security (academic or professional)Hands-on or academic experience with AWS and / or AzureKnowledge of GRC principles and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, PCI-DSS, IRS Pub 1075, SOC2)Basic understanding of encryption, access control, and data maskingFamiliarity with Python, PySpark, and SQL for data processingAwareness of security monitoring tools (Splunk, CloudWatch, Tenable Nessus) is a plusRelevant security certifications preferredDesired Attributes :
Detail-oriented and collaborative with strong communication skillsAbility to interpret compliance requirements and translate them into technical tasksThe hourly range for roles of this nature are $25.00 to $30.00 / hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
