Chief Project Manager - Facilities

Join our team as a Chief Project Manager - Facilities! Highly complex and specialized Facilities construction and renovation planning work. Duties may include planning, coordinating, and reviewing the work of technical and professional team members and consulting engineers, architects and contractors engaged in the construction and renovation of county buildings and grounds projects. Supervising, leading and monitoring other Project Managers and their work within the Facilities Management Department.

Manages, coordinates and provides technical review of consultant's designs, plans, and specifications for construction projects, studies and prepares review comments. Conducts specialized analysis of complex building construction and renovation studies. Manages and supervises the preparation and review of projects. May assist with the development and updates to the budgetary estimates for the Capital Improvement Program. Assists in the development and administration criteria of the design guidelines, and other criteria as needed. Prepares project status reports and schedules as required. Assists in the preparation of in-house policy and procedures as they relate to construction and renovation issues. Provides technical assistance to in-house staff and other departments regarding construction and renovation related issues. Provides technical assistance to citizen groups when requested. Supervises, manages and monitors other Project Managers and their work within the Facilities Management Department. Performs related work as required.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of Facilities construction and renovation. Knowledge of modern project management and engineering procedures and techniques as they apply to building and grounds projects, studies, and development within the County. Knowledge of modern developments, current literature and sources of information in the area of facilities management, project management, architecture, and engineering. Ability to plan and direct the work of project managers, engineers, architects, contractors, technicians, and clerical personnel. Ability to give technical and professional review to a wide variety and large volume of construction and renovation plans and studies, and related documents. Ability to present clear and concise reports, orally and in writing. Working knowledge of Florida Building Code and other state and federal requirements for buildings and construction. Ability to read and interpret complex studies, engineering reports and plans. Ability to meet and work with the public, contractors, and consultants. Make presentations to achieve positive outcomes.

Physical skills : Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Ability to visit work sites and inspect properties, structures and facilities. Requires standing, stooping and walking, sometimes in an outdoor environment.

Education, training and experience : Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or in a related field and eight (8) years of experience in the field of construction project management OR a Bachelor's Degree and ten (10) years of experience in the field of construction project management. Two (2) years' as a supervisor required.

Licenses, certifications or registrations : Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. Registration or certification as a General Contractor, Architect, Engineer or Project Management Professional (PMP) is required.
