Job descriptionStrong English communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficient with basic personal computer applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel. Evaluate patients based on established departmental standards. Conduct and adapt evaluations according to patients' symptoms and medical status, setting individualized and measurable goals. Utilize effective therapeutic techniques to treat patients. Administer physical agents and manual therapy techniques to achieve treatment goals. Employ strategies to normalize speech and language functions. Educate patients and families on home exercises and functional activities to promote independence. Assess patient progress and determine when maximum treatment benefit has been achieved, recommending discharge as appropriate. Document patient care in compliance with insurance guidelines and departmental policies. Ensure clear communication with interdisciplinary teams and referring physicians regarding patient care. Accurately record and submit treatment charges consistently. Abide by the professional code of ethics outlined by ASHA and the facility. Perform duties using proper body mechanics to prevent injuries. Supervise affiliated students, fostering a learning environment. Engage in continuing education to enhance treatment techniques. Participate in departmental or community educational initiatives.
POSITION SUMMARY :
As a Per Diem Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide essential treatments to patients by conducting comprehensive evaluations and selecting appropriate therapies to enhance or restore their communication abilities. This role involves collaborating with an interdisciplinary team and contributing to community education and clinical training for students. You may also have responsibilities for coverage across multiple sites.
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION
- Master's degree from an accredited program in Speech Language Pathology.
- Current Connecticut licensure or eligibility.
- Possession or eligibility for the Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
- A valid driver's license for potential travel between different ECHN locations.
