Position Overview
We are seeking a highly qualified Employment Law Associate to join our active Labor and Employment team. The ideal candidate will have 4 or more years of employment litigation and transactional experience (representing employers specifically).
Key Responsibilities
- Represent employers in employment litigation matters, including discrimination, wrongful termination, retaliation, and wage and hour claims.
- Draft pleadings, handle discovery, take and defend depositions, and argue motions in state and federal courts.
- Represent clients in mediation, arbitration, and trial settings.
- Provide day-to-day advice and counsel to employers on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Draft and review employment agreements, severance agreements, policies, and handbooks.
- Contribute to case strategy, client communication, and risk assessment.
- Prepare and respond to agency charges and investigations, including EEOC, Labor & Industries and Employment Security Department matters.
- Collaborate with attorneys and staff across offices to deliver effective, client-centered service.
Minimum Qualifications
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law schoolActive member in good standing with the Washington State Bar4-5 years of employment litigation and transactional experienceStrong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skillsExcellent judgment, communication, and case management abilitiesAbility to get along with others especially under stressful situationsPreferred Qualifications
Adept at federal and state wage and hour laws and the interplay between themAble to do both employment law litigation and employment transactional work including drafting employment agreements, noncompetes and other restrictive covenantsWhat We Offer
