WakeMed’s nurse residency is a one-year program that offers clinical and educational activities to facilitate professional and personal growth for the new nurse graduate. This educationally rich and emotionally supportive environment provides a positive transition to nursing practice and is a program that has maintained a retention rate of greater than 90%! Our residency is a wonderful way to begin your career and develop lifelong relationships as well as mentor within the WakeMed family.

The highly specialized Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery (NICU) offers 48 patient beds, including 26 single private rooms. The Clinical Nurse will receive training and provide family centered care and work with a highly skilled neonatology staff. The Clinical Nurse will care for infants that have life-threatening or potentially life-threatening disorders, requiring constant monitoring and immediate nursing and medical intervention, in an environment that optimizes neurological growth and infant outcomes.
